My daughter wants to help me make jewelry or trinket boxes for her girl cousins. I've never made anything this small. I told her we could probably buy the boxes at a craft store, but she wants to try to make them from scratch. What type of wood should we use? I'm thinking it will be simple. I'm not sure how to get an arched top so I think we will have to stick with a flat top.

You could always go and buy one of those trinket boxes to get a pattern. I would think you would have to have a flat top. I don't know how to make wood bend either. What a great project to work on with your kids. Are you going to paint them or stain them? I've seen some cool stencils that would look neat on boxes.

We are going to paint them, well my daughter will be doing that. She is super excited too. I think I will pick up one from Michael's and then use that as a guide.
